Random Notes for 12 August, 2005

Welcome to the "Random Notes" portion of this blog (it's the portion where I really don't have any substantial information on any one subject; it allows me to rant sporadically on whatever I wish, for a short period of time. Rock!).

A. First of all, mad love to my man Mark Bellhorn. He hit a homer the other night in Pawtucket, but other than that...he's not batting 1000 (or even .500). I am still his fan, no doubt about that (as in, his one fan...well, me and a few hefty ladies). Whether or not he'll return to the Red Sox is questionable at best (his rehab stint continues in Pawtucket until August 20th), considering the current awesomeness that is occuring at second base (Tony Graffanino).

I guess I owe Tony an apology; I hated-on him so much for taking Mark's place that I didn't give him a chance to single-handedly carry the team (and then he did). So, Tony, forgive me. But you'll never be my favorite; Bellhorn Forever!

B. Boston is in first place in the AL East; we have a five-game lead over the Yanks; we triumphed over the Chicago White Sox tonight. Nuff said.

C. In other news...Joe Thornton signed a three-year deal with the Bruins. This rocks my ass; I'm not even sure why. He just seems cool. *Hockey* is cool, basically. And why is hockey cool? Well, not only is it a sport that doesn't suck (football), but hockey is cool because you can see lots of fights; the refs don't start to break things up until there's at least a broken nose. Therefore, you can go to see a hockey game and drink a beer while someone gets their ass kicked by Joe Thornton. Need I say more? Yeah, this winter's going to be fun.

D. Elvis Costello rules. He's the kind of musician that everyone loves, and you're not sure why, even though you loved some of this songs when you were a little kid. Then one day you hear more of this music (when you've reached the old and decrepit age of 26) and you're like, "Damn! This mother can write *and* sing!" Impressive. That's why he gets his picture at the top of the page. Rock on.

THE END

P.S. I want to send love out to Christian's junks. Get well soon!
